“Followers of Christ”

Week 1:  Everyone is in Need of Salvation Through Christ Jesus

“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” - Romans 3:23

Because we are born sinners, we all need to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for me, so that I can have a relationship with you. Help me always remember that I have a future in Heaven with you, because of your salvation.

It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 2:  God’s Love For Us

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son, so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.”  -John 3:16

The more you let God show you His love for you, the more it will shape the way you view your relationship with Him.  He loves you to the point that He would choose to place your sins on His Son, in order to restore a relationship with you.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the love that you have shown me. Help me to always show that same love to others. Help me to lead others to you through love. Thank you for always loving me through everything I do. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 3:  Confession Leads to Forgiveness

“But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. We can trust God. He does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrongs we have done.” -1 John 1:9

Because we are human, we sin. It is important for us to confess to God, when we have done something wrong. It is through this that we experience God’s love through His forgiveness. No matter what we have done, there is always forgiveness through Jesus.

Prayer: (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, without your forgiveness, I would be lost. Thank you for giving me a new start each time I confess my wrongdoing. Help me to always remember that through Jesus, I can confess my sins and walk in freedom. Thank you for loving me no matter what. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 4:  New in Christ

If anyone belongs to Christ, then he is made new. The old things have gone; everything is made new!” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Through Jesus Christ, we find new life. When we give our hearts to Jesus, we are washed clean of all the wrong we did. We get to start again, free of all the wrongdoing we did before accepting Christ.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, it is through you that we are given new life. Thank you for a new start and a new life washed clean of my sin. Help me to never forget what you have done for me and to always tell others about the new life you’ve given me. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 5: Fruits of the Spirit

But the Spirit gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”  - Galatians 5:22

As followers of Christ, we are called to use these fruit of the Spirit, when interacting with others. Just like a tree is known by its fruit, so is a follower of Christ.  It is how we treat people that truly matters, more so than what we say.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us the fruit of the Spirit. Help me to use them every single day to be an example to everyone around me. Thank you for every opportunity to show your love! It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 6: Love One Another

“You are God’s children whom he loves. So try to be like God. Live a life of love. Love other people just as Christ loved us. Christ gave himself for us—he was a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.” - Ephesians 5:1

As followers of Christ, we are called to love each other. Just as Jesus loves us, we must show that same love to those around us. If we truly love Him, we will show it by loving others.

Prayer: (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the love you have shown me and the opportunity you have given me to show that same love to others. Help me to never forget to show love to others each and every day. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 7: Obey His Teachings

So Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “If you continue to obey my teaching, you are truly my followers. Then you will know the truth.  And the truth will make you free.”  - John 8:31-32

As followers of Jesus, we must always obey His teachings. The Bible provides us with the right tools to live a life of freedom. We can trust His teaching and His Word because we know it is true.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to always obey your teachings. Thank you for your word and for the lessons you have shown me. Help me to teach others about what you have done. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 8: Freedom in Christ

“In Christ, we can come before God with freedom and without fear. We can do this through faith in Christ Jesus.” -Ephesians 3:12

Because God sent His Son to die for our sins, we can now speak out our minds plainly and freely to Him, with confidence in His everlasting love.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for my sins. Thank you for the freedom that you have given me through your perfect sacrifice. Help me to tell others about the freedom that you have given me. Let me always be an example of your freedom. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 9:  Forgiveness

22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, you must forgive him more than 7 times. You must forgive him even if he does wrong to you 70 times 7.”  - Matthew 18:22

Just how we learned about God’s forgiveness for us, we are to show that same forgiveness to others around us. The Bible tells us to forgive others many times; no matter how many times they do you wrong.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for your forgiveness through your Son, Jesus. Thank you for showing me what true forgiveness is. Help me to always show forgiveness to everyone around me. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

 Week 10: Strength in Christ

“ Jesus will keep you strong until the end. He will keep you strong, so that there will be no wrong in you on the day our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.” -1 Corinthians 1:8

No matter what we go through, we have access to a new level of strength in Jesus. Even when things get tough, we can live in the Word and understand that with God we have an overabundance of strength.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the strength you have given me. Help me to always look to you when life gets hard. Let me always be reminded of the power you have gifted us even when the enemy is against me. Give me new strength in you every single day. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 11: Lead by Example

“We show that we are servants of God by living a pure life, by our understanding, by our patience, and by our kindness.”  - 2 Corinthians 6:6

As followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard. We are to lead others by example. We learn what example we are to be through God’s Word. Every day we are given the opportunity to show others what a life of following Jesus looks like.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the opportunity to be an example every single day. Help me to never forget what it means to be a follower of you. Let me lead by example the best way that I can. I pray that when I do, it will influence others to do the same. Thank you for your guidance, Lord. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 12: Peace through Christ

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” - Colossians 3:15

When we go through life and things get tough, we are to always remember what it means to live in the peace that God has given us. We must remember that He is much bigger than the trials we go through.

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for your Word and testament of peace. Thank you for sheltering me in your peace, when times get tough. Help me to always remember your power and wisdom, so that I may always rest in your peace. Let me always be an example to others around me of what living in your peace looks like. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Week 13: Eternity with Jesus

“And this is what he promised us—eternal life.” - 1 John 2:25

As followers of Christ, we are not only given new life here on Earth, but we are also promised an eternity in Heaven with Jesus!

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for new life and a promise of eternity with you. Let me never forget you put me in this world to honor you and tell others of your promises. Help me to remember all that you have taught me through your Word, so that I can use it to help others spend eternity with you. Thank you for the life you’ve given me. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.
