Week 1: Moving Forward

 

Verse: “Forget what happened before. Do not think about the past.  Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don’t you see it? I will make a road in the desert. I will make rivers in the dry land.Isaiah 43:18-19 

 

Questions

How many of you were ready for 2020 to be over?

What are you believing that God can do in 2021?

 

Commentary: No matter how crazy and bad things get, God is always preparing us for something great.

 

Prayer: (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for showing us how to move forward. Thank you for what you have already done and for the new things you are going to do. Help me to always live in your word and show others your truth. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.




 

Week 2: What is Faith?

 

Verse: Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real, even if we do not see it.” Hebrews 11:1

 

Question: 

What is an example of faith?

 

Commentary: Faith is simply trusting God, even when we can’t see the end results. We can’t see the wind, but we can see how it affects things. Even though we can’t see the Lord, we can feel Him and see the impact of His works all around us.

 

Prayer: (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for always being near. I pray that my faith will grow, as I understand you in new and deeper ways. Give me the desire to spend time with you, so that I may grow my understanding of you. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.


 

 

Week 3: How to Serve Others

 

Verse: Each of you received a spiritual gift. God has shown you his grace in giving you different gifts. And you are like servants who are responsible for using God’s gifts. So be good servants and use your gifts to serve each other.” 1 Peter 4:10

 

Questions:

What are some gifts you have that God has given you?

In what ways can you use those gifts to serve others? 

 

Commentary: God gives each of us gifts to use for His Kingdom. He wants us to recognize what we’re good at and use that gift to serve others.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for teaching us the importance of using our gifts for Kingdom purpose. Help me to see new ways that I can use my gifts to serve others. Continue to teach me how to make my life reflect who you are. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.





Week 4: The Grace of God

 

Verse: In Christ we are set free by the blood of his death. And so we have forgiveness of sins, because of God’s good grace.” Ephesians 1:7

 

Question

How did God show us grace?

 

Commentary: Because Jesus died on the cross for our sins, our hearts are washed clean. It’s through the grace of God that we no longer have to earn forgiveness.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the free gift of grace. Thank you for sending your son in my place to pay for my sin. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.




 

Week 5: God’s Presence 

 

Verse: “Be strong and brave. The Lord your God will go with you. He will not leave you or forget you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 

 

Question: 

Have you ever felt alone during a tough time?

 

Commentary: The enemy will try to make us think God is not near when things go wrong, but God says he’ll never leave us no matter what. 

 

Prayer: (Have players repeat after you)                                                                                   Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for never leaving us, no matter what we go through. Help me to always remember that you will never be far. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.




 

Week 6: Always Being Honest

 

Verse: The Lord hates lying lips, but those who speak the truth are His joy.” Proverbs 12:22 

 

Question: 

Why should we always be honest?

 

Commentary: God is pleased with those who are honest. We should always tell the truth, so others can trust us and God can delight in us.

 

Prayer: (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to live a life based on honesty. Forgive me for the times I have lied. Help me to always tell the truth, no matter how worried I am of the consequence. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.



 

Week 7: Using the Word of God

Verse: But Jesus said, “Those who hear the teaching of God and obey it, they are the ones who are truly blessed.” Luke 11:28 

Question

How often should we study God’s Word?

Commentary:  Jesus talks about the importance of knowing the word of God and when we apply His teachings to our life, we can live truly blessed lives.

Prayer: (Have players repeat after you)                                                                                   Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for giving us your Word to learn from. Help me understand more about what your Word says and to live it out to the best of my ability. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.



 

Week 8: Forgiveness

 

Verse: Be kind and loving to each other. Forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ.” Ephesians 4:32   

 

Questions:

Why is it important for us to forgive others?

 

Commentary: God calls us to forgive others, even if they hurt us, because He forgave us.

 

Prayer: (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for showing us what true forgiveness looks like. Help us to forgive those who have hurt us, even in difficult times. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.






Week 9: Being Kind to Others (The Golden Rule)

 

Verse: “Do for other people the same things you want them to do for you. This is the meaning of the law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets.” Matthew 7:12 

 

Questions:

How do you want to be treated by others?

Do you think you are doing a good job of treating others how you want to be treated?

 

Commentary: If we treat others the way we would like to be treated, then people around us will take notice. They will then have an opportunity to learn the Golden Rule themselves.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for teaching us how to treat others. Help us to show kindness through your love. Let our lives be examples of your love and grace for others. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.






Week 10: Having Self-Control

 

Verse: “A foolish person loses his temper. But a wise person controls his anger.” Proverbs 29:11

 

Question:

What are some ways we can show self-control?

Commentary: God calls us to live a life with self-control. When we find ourselves lacking self-control, we are in danger of allowing outside influences to determine our decisions.

Dear Heavenly Father, Help us practice self-control daily. Give me the strength to have self-control, as difficult circumstances of life come my way. Continue to make my life look more like you. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.





Week 11: Starting Your Day with Prayer

 

Verse: “Lord, every morning you hear my voice. Every morning, I tell you what I need and wait for your answer.” Psalm 5:3

 

Question:

Why is it important to start our day with prayer?

 

Commentary: When you begin your days in prayer, it shows God that He is a priority in your daily life.

Week 12: Give it Your Best

 

Verse: “In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for men.” Colossians 3:23

 

Question

Why should we give our best at all times?

 

Commentary: In life God wants us to do our best in all that we do. Always remember that you are serving the Lord in everything that you do.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for teaching us the importance of doing our best in all we do. Help us to set an example for all those around us. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.






Week 13: Godly Character

Verse: God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Question: 

What are some ways that people judge us compared to how God judges us?

Commentary: The Bible teaches us that God doesn’t care about outside things, such as the way we look, how much money we make or what school we go to, as much as He cares about our heart and how we treat others.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for teaching me what really matters to you. Help me to have a pure heart that is pleasing to you. Thank you for your word that teaches me how to have Godly character. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.





 

Week 14: Our Salvation

Verse: “And this is what the Son promised to us—life forever.” 1 John 2:25 

Question:

What is the most important decision we will ever make and why?

Commentary: As followers of Christ, we are not only given new life here on Earth, but we are also promised an eternity in Heaven with Jesus.

 

Prayer:  (Have players repeat after you)

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for new life and a promise of eternity with you. Let me never forget that you put me in this world to honor you and tell others of your promises. Help me to remember all that you have taught me through your word, so that I can use it to help others spend eternity with you. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.
